Écologie : (répartition d'après la flore) Lieux humides, surtout des montagnes, dans une grande partie de la France; nul dans l'Ouest et la région méditerranéenne.
Répartition hors de France : Europe; Asie occidentale et boréale; Amérique boréale.

A somewhat hairy perennial with almost simple, erect flowering stems 8-30 cm high, and many radical Ieaves, growing from a stout, creeping and rooting rhizome.
Ecology UK: (distribution according to flora) It grows commonly in marshes and wet meadows and is spread over most of the British Isles, but is absent in the south-west.

Fleurs : rougeâtres, penchées, en cymes pauciflores; calice d'un brun rougeâtre, à lobes dressés-appliqués ; 5 pétales, à onglet long, tronqués ou émarginés, dressés, aussi longs que le calice; styles velus, articulés vers le milieu
Floraison France : Mai-juillet.
Flowers: 8-10 mm diam., calyx lobes long, hairy, acute; epicalyx lobes much narrower; petals erect, ovate, spathulate, lobed, pink to orange, rather shorter than sepals. Receptacle stalked above the calyx;
Flowering UK: Early May-early July.
